James N. Esdaile, Jr.

Bio

Jim Esdaile is a litigator with both local and national recognition. His practice concentrates on complex tort litigation, including medical malpractice and products liability, as well as business and financial disputes.  After graduating cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1970, Jim clerked for Chief Justice G. Joseph Tauro in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Jim joined the firm after serving in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps also returning to B.U. Law School as an instructor in legal methods.  

Professional Accomplishments

For more than 40 years, Jim has dedicated his deep understanding of the law and thorough nature to helping people who were injured achieve the best results possible, as well as helping people and businesses navigate complicated business problems.  Jim was instrumental in obtaining some of the largest verdicts and settlements in the Commonwealth and has argued countless dispositive motions before all levels of the Courts.  In one of his most well-known cases, Jim obtained a $10 million judgment after a jury’s verdict on behalf of a man who was severely injured as a result of negligently designed pressurized equipment.

Awards and Recognition

While in law school, Jim served as Managing Editor of the prestigious Boston University Law Review (1970), and has written and lectured on topics related to civil litigation practice, authoring "The Collateral Source Rule," 68 Massachusetts Law Review 1983.
